Alden and I had a great time making a little ski movie (Pinball Strikes Back) Friday afternoon. It was a nice day and Monarch had just gotten over three feet of much-needed new snow.
Then when we were getting ready to leave at the end of the day we noticed military helicopters buzzing around. As I tried to turn right (West) out of the parking lot a CDOT worker told me the pass was closed due to a helicopter crash and had not further information (like when it might reopen). We waited for 40 Minutes and then just decided to go around the long way through Saguache which takes 2.5 Hours! It ended up being a fun impromptu road trip for us as we made the most of the inconvenience.
